Chakras

Chakras are part of an intricate energy system that runs throughout our body. Energy/lifeforce/chi runs through our physical bodies through pathways called chakras, meridians, and nadis. It also flows around us in our biofield called the aura.Accupuncturists place small needles in the body’s meridians in an attempt to clear energy blockages leading to illness or other problems and nadis are smaller more subtler energy pathways. Chakras are the largest energy centers in our body and each of us have seven main energy centers in our bodies. Chakra in the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit means, "wheel." They can be conceptualized as a spinning wheel that continues spinning in the absence of any energy blockages. The energy system is susceptible to changes in the physical, mental, and emotional functioning of an individual. In this sense, negative thoughts or emotions, as well as physical injury all contribute to the blockages of energy in the body that manifest as physical or psychological pain/illnesses. Every gland, organ, and body system are connected to one of the main energy centers. Therefore, when a specific disorder manifests on the physical level, someone knowledgeable in chakras can attribute the problem with a chakra that is no longer free flowing and clear. The seven main charkas or energy centers are aligned along the spine. Through the placing of Reiki hands on specific positions on the body, energy blockages can be cleared by channeling Reiki through those blockages. Since Reiki goes to where it is needed, it does not take an expert in chakras to clear the chakras with Reiki. Energy blockages manifest as illness. When those blockages are cleared and energy is allowed to flow freely through the system, the result is health. Reiki does not heal anyone, nor does the practitioner. Reiki frees up the blockages within the individual’s system that allows the body to complete the healing process on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. The chakras are also associated with sound vibrations. By chanting certain sounds, it is said that the chakras can become balanced. See the table below for more information.
